How the number is made

A passport is a set of claims, each measured on its own evidence and published only when its own interval is tight enough. This page says how — without the mathematics, but without hiding any of it either.

The model

Every finished piece of work is one observation: it landed cleanly, landed, landed the hard way, or did not land — read from merges, reviews and CI, witnessed by the platform rather than reported by anyone. Three things carry that evidence: a pull request, a run of your commits on one branch in one day, and a release. Work pushed straight to main is measured; what carries nothing to read is a merge commit, a bot's commit, and a commit where your share of the edits is too small to attribute — those create no episode and are neither counted nor held against you. How finely somebody commits is a habit, not an amount of work, so a day on one branch is one carrier however many commits it took. A latent-ability model from the family used to calibrate GRE, PISA and medical licensing exams estimates two things at once: your ability and the difficulty of each class of task. Difficulty is inferred from everyone's data, so a run of easy work cannot buy a score.

What the number means

The headline is the freshness-weighted level of your last months — recent work counts fully, older work fades with a 42-day half-life. It is deliberately not "your ability today": that cannot be estimated honestly from a finite window. If you are climbing, the number trails you and catches up — the 30-day trend moves first, and the passport says so rather than letting the lag read as a mismeasurement.

Why every value carries a range

A value without its interval is a guess wearing a suit. Every published value is the middle of a distribution the model actually computed, and the "between X and Y" line is the 90% range of that distribution. A claim whose range is still too wide publishes nothing — not a provisional number, not a hint.

The set depends on how you work

Someone who accepts suggestions in an editor proves different claims than someone who delegates to an agent. The passport measures the way of working it actually observed and says which one — "2 of 2" and "4 of 4" are both complete, and neither pretends to be the other. A claim outside your way of working is not a gap; it says what would measure it.

What is signed, and what is not yet proven

Every snapshot is signed; anyone can verify the signature offline against the published key. The engine is validated computationally — dozens of synthetic worlds, each simulating a population with known answers, re-run on every change. External validation comes from a blind pilot that has not run yet. We say this here, before you find out.
